Congressional Update from Andy Barr
Calling for the Senate to Pass the Big, Beautiful Bill

Today, I wrote in the Lexington Herald-Leader urging the U.S. Senate to pass the Big, Beautiful Bill (BBB). I’m 100% behind this bill because it stops the biggest tax increase in American history while delivering an across-the-board tax cut for Kentucky families, small businesses, and seniors.
The BBB also surges resources to our border patrol to help President Trump secure the border, deport illegal immigrants, and stop the flow of fentanyl into our communities.

Leading CAREER Act to Passage to Help Addiction Providers

On Thursday, the House passed legislation boosting funding to an opioid recovery grant program that I authored and championed. The Comprehensive Addiction Recovery through Effective Employment and Reentry (CAREER) Act created a targeted funding stream for treatment recovery centers to help individuals overcome addiction and successfully transition back into the workforce.
One of the providers who benefited from the grant program was Isaiah House Treatment Center, who used a $2.5M grant funded through the CAREER Act to expand facilities and provide more peer-to-peer support:
Kara Ball, Chief Development Officer at Isaiah House, said: “Because of this grant, we’ve been able to do so much more than just meet immediate needs; we’ve helped people earn their GEDs, take their first steps toward college, and begin rebuilding lives filled with purpose. From peer recovery support to job training, this funding has helped turn hope into action for so many,”
I spoke with Spectrum News just after the passage of the bill. You can watch the full interview by clicking here or the image above.

Their service to country and dedication to duty represent the best of the Sixth District and our Commonwealth. All nine students and their future military academies are listed below. Please join me in wishing them well in their service and if you know anyone who is interested in attending a service academy, learn more about our process here.
