I Support Lower Prices for Insulin

There is an old saying that repetition does not turn a lie into truth. Unfortunately, a dark money group is up to their old tricks with a negative TV ad with lies about my position on insulin. Let me give you the facts.

First off, you should know the fact-checking organization Politifact labeled a similar attack from this same group as misleading just two months ago.

How is this ad misleading? The ad cites my vote against a massive bill that was named the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). I voted against the IRA because it was a $1.2 trillion spending bill that raised billions of dollars of taxes on the American people and contributed heavily to the high inflation straining our household budgets.

In addition to all the spending, buried in the IRA was a provision regarding insulin prices. While I support lowering the cost of insulin, I opposed the IRA because I believe we must work to pass legislation that lowers the price of health care without spending billions of more dollars on government programs. That’s why, I cosponsored the Lower Costs, More Cures Act, which imposes a monthly cap on the price of insulin.

Insulin is a vital health care product that many people depend on to live their daily lives, and I strongly believe we need to work to help make it affordable and accessible. That is why I am working to provide relief to American families.

The group behind the ad is also attempting to tie me to a proposed budget from the Republican Study Committee (RSC). The RSC is a group of elected officials who come together to discuss proposed solutions to some of the biggest challenges facing our country. Some of their ideas are great, others would only make matters worse.

I am a member of the RSC because I believe we all must work together to find solutions, but I do not support every proposal from every member of the group. In fact, I strongly oppose the budget proposal mentioned in the attack. This proposal does not have enough support to be brought to the House floor for a vote, but if it did, I would vote against it and recommend others do the same.

I’m working to bring down the price of prescription drugs, but the Inflation Reduction Act only made everyday life less affordable for the hardworking people of Wisconsin. When you vote against big giveaways to corporations like I did, they come after you. However, attack ads funded by shadowy dark money groups will not deter me from serving you in Congress. You can be assured that I will continue working to control reckless spending, lower prescription drug prices and insulin prices, and keep the cost of living affordable.

Blessed Good Friday and Happy Easter!
