I hope this message finds you well. As your Thirteenth Congressional District Representative, I want to share with you some important updates from the past month:

Homeowner Assistance Being Distributed By The Georgia Department of Community Affairs

Watch Congressman David Scott Discuss the new Homeowner Assistance Program with DCA Commissioner Christopher Nunn on WSB-TV (YouTube).

The Georgia Department of Community Affairs (GA DCA) continues to disburse funding from the American Rescue Plan's provision that I championed in Congress to provide mortgage and utility assistance for all Georgia residents who experienced a hardship or loss of income due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

There is still time to apply for mortgage and utility payment assistance if you haven't already. Please click here to learn more. Interested in learning more about the rental and utility assistance program? Please click here

Historic Swearing-In of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the U.S. Supreme Court

This month, the Senate confirmed Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the U.S. Supreme Court. This historic swearing-in of the first Black female Supreme Court Justice is monumental for our nation.

Judge Jackson’s lived experience will add unprecedented perspective towards the Court’s duty to the Constitution and as we continue our march towards a more perfect union, her swearing-in is a meaningful step towards a Supreme Court that reflects the diversity of America.

No one knows the issues metro-Atlanta communities face better than our local elected officials. I was pleased to welcome local Thirteenth District officials in person last month to Washington to address pressing local concerns and discuss new ways our federal-local partnerships can support safer, cleaner and more accessible communities back home.

U.S. House Committee on Agriculture: Commodity Programs

Chairman David Scott shares remarks at a House Agriculture hearing.

Chairman of the House Agriculture Committee, Congressman David Scott (GA-13) delivered remarks at an in-person hearing entitled, "A 2022 Review of the Farm Bill: Commodity Group Perspectives on Title 1":

"Good morning and thank you to everyone for joining us today as we gather perspectives from commodity groups on the Commodity Title programs in the 2018 Farm Bill.

"In particular, I am proud to say that we have two farmers from my home state of Georgia testifying this morning who are representing our important cotton and peanut industries. Georgia is number one in the country for peanut production and number two for cotton production.

"Today’s hearing is an important opportunity for us to reflect on commodity programs in the 2018 Farm Bill and gather input from key stakeholders on what is working and is not working for farmers across the country.

"To all of our witnesses, I appreciate you taking the time to join us today for what I am sure will be an informative hearing. Thank you all again."

House Passage of The Crown Act

No one should lose a job, face school discipline, or endure other forms of discrimination because of their natural hair. Last month, I was proud to support H.R. 2116, the Crown Act to end race-based hair discrimination once and for all.
