      As we recognized Independence Day, we remember the ideals of our Founding Fathers that made our Nation the greatest beacon of freedom and opportunity in the world. Unfortunately, at the same time last week, the Biden Administration offered an olive branch to authoritarian Chinese Communist Party leaders that places American manufacturing and our economy in the crosshairs of their harmful regime. On a brighter note, a U.S. district judge secured a big win for Americans’ constitutional right to free speech in ruling to temporarily block the Biden Administration from colluding with Big Tech to censor individuals’ content and social media platforms. As Congress prepares for busy weeks ahead, House Republicans are committed to defending our constitutional freedoms, restoring America’s economic greatness, and holding this Administration accountable. Rest assured, I will continue fighting for the good people of southwest Virginia. 

Celebration of American Independence

      As a young kid growing up in the district I am now honored to represent, I was consistently inspired by the stories about the sacrifices our founding fathers made in their fight for independence. As we commemorated Independence Day last week, we pledged to never lose sight of the blessings of freedom and the price paid by those who fought for the liberty and independence we hold so dear. May God continue to bless our great Nation – the greatest beacon of freedom, prosperity, and democracy around the world.

Protecting Americans' Right to Free Speech

      For too long, Big Government has blatantly ignored the First Amendment’s right to free speech, working to intimidate tech companies and force them to silence Americans online. In their attempts to silence views that fit their definition of “disinformation,” the Biden Administration and federal agencies colluded with Big Tech to censor content and individuals’ platforms on social media – from the COVID-19 lab leak theory to the Hunter Biden laptop story.

      Fortunately, this week a U.S. district judge temporarily blocked the Biden Administration from communicating with Big Tech about Americans’ online content. This ruling is a good start towards further securing Americans’ right to free speech online.

The Biden Admin Fails to Stand Up to China

      It’s no secret that the Communist Chinese Party (CCP) poses a large threat to the U.S. economy, targeting our investors, markets, supply chains, industries, and jobs. Unfortunately, the Biden Administration continues to ignore the damage being done by them, as this week, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, made an official visit last week to help “forge closer ties.”

      House Republicans know that we need to get manufacturing, good-paying jobs, and investments back to America. That is what the Biden Administration should be focused on, not more apology tours.
