Dear Arthur,
Today is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, and we honor Dr. King’s life and his legacy of service. His unyielding fight for civil rights changed our nation’s history and we are forever in his debt.
I am honored to announce I will serve as the top-ranking Republican on all matters relating to capital markets, investor protection, and capital formation on the Financial Services Committee. Chairman McHenry and I worked closely in the last Congress while I was the Committee’s Vice Ranking Member, and I will continue that partnership as Chair of the Subcommittee on Capital Markets, where I will work to strengthen our public markets, help small businesses and entrepreneurs access capital, and increase investor opportunities for main street investors.

Our Republican majority on the Financial Services Committee is ready to get to work in the 118th Congress. Read more about our other subcommittee chairs and financial services priorities here.
After dozens of unanimous consent requests, two discharge petitions, and countless hours of advocacy work, the House has finally taken action to ensure that every single baby born in the United States receives lifesaving medical care at their most vulnerable moment. Last week we voted on and passed my Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, legislation that ensures every single newborn, regardless the circumstances of their birth, deserves to share the miracle of life and have lifesaving medical care. We must act with compassion to protect these little ones and give women a strong support system as they navigate the miracles and challenges of motherhood.
I have championed this issue for decades and I have been blessed and honored to lead the Born Alive legislation since 2019. Watch my full speech urging my colleagues to support this vital legislation here.
Last week, I voted for the Protecting America’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve from China Act, legislation that prevents President Biden from selling any products from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to China or any entity controlled by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). We must not enable the CCP in any way, nor should we recklessly drain our own strategic reserves, risking our national security in the process. The House passed this commonsense bill in an overwhelmingly bipartisan manner.
Mark Reardon and I went on the air to give an update on how the Congressional Speaker’s vote went down, the latest on my Born Alive legislation, and more. Click here to listen to our full interview.
My office is ready to serve you if you have a casework issue or need help with a federal agency. We can assist you with getting benefits you have earned, help with Medicare or the IRS, and even help you expedite your passport. Click here if you need assistance.
Sincerely,
Ann Wagner Member of Congress
