Dear Arthur,

I had an incredible morning with the Greater St. Louis Honor Flight to welcome our veterans to Washington, D.C. We will always honor their bravery, their patriotism, and their many sacrifices. It was especially moving to meet D-Day veteran Ralph “Goldie” Goldsticker as we recognized last week’s anniversary of D-Day.

I hosted a reception for the class of 2027 Service Academy Appointees and their families. It is truly an honor and a privilege to represent these outstanding young men and women willing to serve a cause greater than themselves. Click

Startup companies are doing innovative and complex activities that will benefit our economy. They should be encouraged to sit down with potential investors and given the opportunity to explain why their business model is the right one for an investment plan without additional regulatory burdens. I am pleased to announce the House passed my bipartisan piece of legislation that will encourage more companies to go public. It will also expand provisions of the JOBS Act by codifying an existing SEC rule to allow all companies to ‘test the waters’ and communicate directly with potential investors before filing for an IPO. I spoke on the House Floor in support of this important legislation that will make listing on exchanges more attractive, strengthening our financial markets and providing main street investors with more opportunities to grow their nest egg. Watch

President Biden will be held accountable for his reckless withdrawal of Afghanistan. His administration was warned that leaving Afghanistan would have disastrous effects, and yet they did it anyway. Last week, the Foreign Affairs Committee was finally given access to the internal State Department dissent cable that reportedly warned about the collapse of Kabul in advance of the withdrawal. The Biden Administration fought tooth and nail to hide this dissent cable from Congress as part of their efforts to hide their incompetence, but Republicans on the Foreign Affairs Committee were able to negotiate a viewing of the cable to fully understand the chaos State Department officials were experiencing on the ground. I viewed the cable last week as part of my duties as Vice Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee, and I will continue to do all in my power to make sure the American people fully understand the impact of Joe Biden’s horrific mistakes.

I had the honor of meeting with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Rishi Sunak. We covered a number of topics, including our shared priority of urging other NATO members to maintain and even exceed their commitment to spending 2% of their GDP on NATO defense. We also discussed how important it is our nations continue to support Ukraine through direct security assistance, as well as expanding sanctions to fully cut off support for Vladimir Putin’s war machine from dictators in Iran and China.

Together with our Australian allies, the U.S. and United Kingdom have formed a critical new partnership, AUKUS, that will provide a powerful deterrent against Chinese aggression. Our trilateral relationship will promote global security and prosperity for many years to come, and we remain absolutely committed to standing firm against China’s quest to dominate the Indo-Pacific.

It was great to meet with constituents from Missouri KidsFirst, a network of Child Advocacy Centers in the National Children’s Alliance. We discussed my VOCA Fix Act that was signed into law and supports victim service programs, as well as my EARN IT Act, a bipartisan and bicameral bill that will better protect victims of child sexual abuse. We will continue our work to protect vulnerable children from exploitation and trauma and ensure we give them the help they need.

Thank you to President Choi and the Mizzou Athletics team for visiting with me to discuss Mizzou’s upcoming seasons and policy priorities surrounding the Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) issue impacting schools and athletes.

Sincerely,

Ann Wagner
