Dear Friend:
I hope you've been enjoying the fall - don't forget you only have one more week left to get your Halloween costumes and candy!
This week, I had the opportunity to question Biden's Attorney General, Merrick Garland on whether or not the DOJ is investigating the violent riots that took place in Minneapolis last summer, while they are also investigating police conduct. He, surprisingly, did not know the status of these investigations but assured me he would look into it. I also got to take part in a few other great events that are pictured at the end of the letter.

This Week In Ag
I participated in a roundtable discussion with some important stakeholders in the digital asset industry to learn about a number of issues of importance to the industry, including the role digital assets have and will continue to play in derivatives markets regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). As Ranking Member of the Commodity Exchanges, Energy, and Credit Subcommittee (CEEC), I was especially interested in learning about blockchain and its impacts on rural communities, and how the committee can ensure a consistent and reliable regulatory environment that fosters innovation. Participants included Ripple, The Blockchain Association, Coinbase, Stellar Development Foundation, Global DCA, Digital Chamber of Commerce, and FTX US.

Thanks to Hultgren Farms and the Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative for the opportunity to see this year’s sugar beet campaign in full swing. I hope all the farmers, co-ops, and workers across the district have a safe and successful harvest! Your industry and strong, supportive sugar policies are essential to our rural communities and economy. |
District staff was able to attend the Minnesota Valley Rail Authority board meeting and then had the opportunity to "high rail" sections of the railroad between Redwood Falls and Winthrop. They are the major rail shippers for many businesses in Minnesota's 7th District. |
I joined a roundtable discussion with Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, Representatives Chris Smith and Andy Harris, Carol Tobias of the National Right to Life, Marilyn Musgrave from the Susan B. Anthony List, and Jeanne Mancini from March for Life. We had a great conversation about the importance of keeping the Hyde Amendment in Legislation and not reversing decades of great work for the pro-life movement. You can view the full discussion here. |
I joined the Lignite Energy Council on their podcast, Mined. It was so great talking with Kate and Geoff about realities facing rural Minnesota like the need for more reliable energy and less regulation. Check out the whole interview here! |
What's Up Next
Next week, I'll be participating in several meetings and events, including a hearing on Agricultural Biotechnology and possibly, facing another consideration of the Biden socialist spending spree.
As always, my office is open and ready to serve constituents of Minnesota's Seventh Congressional District! Please do not hesitate to get in touch if there is anything I can do to help. Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Michelle Fischbach
Member of Congress
