Heading Back Home For August Recess

Dear Neighbor,

After three long weeks of legislative session in Washington, D.C., I'm excited to head back home to Florida's Third Congressional District. Democrats have been hard at work coming up with ways to make life harder for Americans across the country, as evidenced by the announcement this week that the United States is officially experiencing a recession.

Although the House won't reconvene until September, my colleagues and I will be coming up with solutions during this time to deliver relief to the American people amid the current economic crisis. If Americans want to see proven, commonsense policies that will return affordability, security, and solutions to the crises created by the Biden administration, we need fight for Republicans to take back the House in 2023.

With all that's happening this Congress, it is my greatest honor to represent you and hear from you about the issues that matter most. You can read below about what we've been up to this week, and as always, you can stay up to date with us here, on our website, and on TwitterFacebookInstagram, and YouTube.

In Liberty,

Expanding Veterans' Healthcare With The PACT Act

Image

Last week, the House passed the updated PACT Act, a bill to improve healthcare and benefits for veterans exposed to toxic substances while in the military. Previously, more than 70 percent of claims were rejected due to lack of evidence of a service-connected disability, but this is changed in the new bill to give veterans the necessary care they deserve. I was proud to vote in favor of this act to support veterans from Florida's Third Congressional District. The bill is currently with the Senate before heading to the White House for a signature.

Speaking At The America First Policy Institute Summit

Image

This afternoon, I joined Former Acting DHS Secretary Chad Wolf, Congressman Chip Roy, Senator James Lankford, and others at the America First Policy Institute Summit to talk about the border crisis and what Congress must do differently to put America first. There is an invasion at the southern border. The Biden administration's willful ignorance of this crisis and its open-border policies have created a mess for our law enforcement, our Border Patrol, and the American people.

Uncovering Chinese Efforts To Undermine U.S. Security

Image

This week, I joined the Evening Edit on Fox Business to discuss a recent report alleging that China is spying on the U.S. Central Bank. For years now, the Chinese Communist Party has been attempting to undermine the United States. From the Thousand Talents program to the Confucius Institutes, there is nothing the CCP won't try to do in an attempt to make the United States look weak. We have to stand up to Xi Jinping and this starts in November when Republicans take the House back.

Blasting Congressional Democrats' Economic Crisis

Image

Yesterday, I blasted Democrats and the Biden administration for the current state of the economy with our country now in a recession that was completely avoidable. It was not inevitable, as some of my colleagues have been gaslighting us to believe. Democrats don't know how to leave the American people alone, and their destructive policies and reckless spending are the direct cause of the economic crisis we're now experiencing.

Talking Rising Inflation With GOP Colleague On Fox & Friends First

Image

This week, I joined Fox & Friends First with my friend Rep. Byron Donalds to talk about how rising inflation is hurting folks across the country. More than half of Americans have little to no emergency savings with the impacts of inflation and soaring prices across the country. According to the White House, though, it's not so bad because at least things aren't so rough as a third-world country. This administration is a mess, and we've got to bring some relief to Americans.

Recognizing Korean War Armistice Day

Image

On Wednesday, we recognized Korean War Armistice Day, which took place in 1953 when an armistice was signed that ended the over three years of combat. On this day especially, we honor the brave Americans who served our nation during the conflict. May we never forget their courage and sacrifice. To all our Korean War veterans from Florida's Third Congressional District, thank you for your selfless service in defending democracy during this historic war.

Meeting With Leaders From The Florida Bankers

Image

Last week, I sat down with folks from the Florida Bankers Association in my Washington, D.C. office! They stopped by to update the team on all of their work in the Sunshine State and their latest initiatives to keep consumers safe amid inflation and rising prices. It's always great learning about what our leaders from Florida are doing to help folks around the state.

Hiring Fall 2022 Interns In Washignton, D.C. & Gainesville

Image

We're hiring interns for our Washington, D.C. and Gainesville offices for the fall semester! The deadline to apply for D.C. is just around the corner on Sunday, July 31st, and the deadline to apply for Gainesville is August 15th, so don't delay in sharing this opportunity with a college (D.C., Gainesville) or high school (Gainesville) student who may be interested. This program is one of the highlights of our congressional office and we'd love to have more folks from our district involved in serving Florida's Third.
